Imagine a getaway where morning coffee is served by rolling rice-paddy views, swimming in a shallow beach lagoon, enjoying sunset cocktails on a cliffside deck…

now imagine that plus your kids.

It can still be all the dreamy moments above and so much more. Bali is magical family destination with

We spent two weeks in bali - with our kids! - exploring Canggu, Ubud, Seminyak and Uluwatu and here is our guide :

1. Canggu: Chic, relaxed seaside with family amenities

Why stay here: Canggu blends stylish cafés, delicious dining and beach with laid-back Bali charm. For families, it offers good restaurants, beach access and increasingly kid-friendly beach-club options.

Beaches & Beach Clubs:

  • The Lawn (Batu Bolong) – great for a beach-day lounge.

  • La Brisa Beach Club – boho-chic, good for relaxed afternoon by the sea

  • Weekday visits to clubs with younger kids may work best (less crowd) and look for designated family zones

Restaurants & Family Dining:

  • Milk & Madu (Canggu and Ubud) – casual, kid-friendly menus, playground style setting.

  • Dolan Canggu (near Batu Bolong) – Wood-fired pizza, large playground and park beside the restaurant so kids can roam while adults relax.

  • Shady Shack (Canggu) – Vegetarian/healthy café, very relaxed, good for families who want fresh food in a calm environment.

  • Penny Lane - balinese restaurant with variety on menu - open air venue

Tip for families: Book como canggu for great kids club access or an accommodation with a private pool and easy beach access.

2. Ubud: The cultural heart + jungle calm

Why stay here: After the beach buzz, Ubud provides a slower pace—monkey forests, rice terraces, spa retreats and family-friendly dining. It’s perfect for rest days or deeper connection with nature.

Highlights:

  • Winding walks by rice terraces, cooking classes where kids can help stir the batter, and gentle excursions to sacred temples.

  • For food, look for cafés like Alchemy (vegan-friendly, good for fresh juices) in Ubud.

Restaurants :

  • CasCades Restaurant - family friendly (kids 6 and under eat free), gorgeous setting

  • Milk & Madu - again, we love this!

  • Tebasari Resto Bar - overlooking the rice fields

  • afternoon tea at the capella ubud - the property is stunning and it feels like stepping back in time..swiss family robinson style!

Tip for families: Pick a hotel or villa with toddler-friendly amenities (kids’ club, babysitting, pool shallow end) and don’t overbook the schedule—allow for downtime. We loved our stay at the four seasons sayan!

3. Seminyak: Stylish beach + sophisticated dining

Why visit: Seminyak is a refined yet buzzy coastal stretch with upscale restaurants, boutiques and beachside glam. Ideal for families wanting a mix of relaxation and indulgence.

Beach Clubs & Dining:

  • Potato Head Beach Club – good for families, creative dining village atmosphere.

  • La Plancha (Mesari Beach) – colorful bean-bags, informal dinner with kids by the sand.

  • KuDeTa – Upscale but still family-friendly; if you want one elegant dinner with kids + grandparents, this can hit it.

Tip for families: Book early for dinner around sunset. With young kids, aim for a restaurant with terrace seating and kid-friendly menu. Evening walks to gelato spots are a nice wind-down.

4. Uluwatu: Dramatic coastal scenery & zen

Why stay here: For a grand finale, Uluwatu’s cliff-side panoramas and luxe resorts feel like a reward at the end of your Bali journey. Great for families who want beauty, space and calm.

Beach Clubs & Family-Friendly Spots:

  • Sundays Beach Club – gets high praise for being accessible with kids and offering beach-front fun without wild party vibes.

  • Additional beach clubs noted in family-friendly round-ups include Ulu Cliffhouse & OneEighty at The Edge.

Tip for families: Stay somewhere with private pool + easy access down to the beach (some resorts have cliff-elevators). Arrange a driver for the day so you can move between viewpoints and beach time without too many transitions.

🗺️ How to Pull It Together: Sample 10-Day Family Trip

  • Days 1-3 (Canggu): Settle in, beach club chill, local cafés, one relaxed beach day.

  • Days 4-5 (Ubud): Move inland to a villa or resort by the rice terraces. Light cultural outing (monkey forest, cooking).

  • Days 6-7 (Seminyak): Shift back toward the coast. Stylish dinners, beach walks, kid-friendly beach club.

  • Days 8-10 (Uluwatu): End with a luxury resort, cliff views, and a relaxed pace for the final days—ideal for mini-celebrations or reflection before heading home.

📌 Final Thoughts for Families

  • Balance activity and rest. Kids under 6 thrive with routine and space—don’t overschedule.

  • Book transfers & cars ahead. Moving between zones takes time and traffic can add up.

  • Choose accommodations wisely. Private pools, gardens, and villas give you flexibility.

  • Mix familiar with new. While beach days are expected, sprinkle in culture (rice terraces, temples) to make the trip richer.

  • Dining for everyone. Prioritize restaurants with high chairs, shaded terraces and casual menus for smaller appetites.
